Welcome to this Tom & Jerry site. Here you will find some info on the various Tom & Jerry cartoons released in the years 1942 to 1967. In this period a total of 161 Tom & Jerry cartoons surfaced to the public.

As everyone knows Metro Goldwyn Mayer is the studio behind these great cartoons and for a long time William Hanna (1910-2001) and Joseph Barbera was the driveing force behind the cartoons and they directed every cartoon in the years 40 to 58.

The very first cartoon had Rudolf Ising as producer but Fred Quimby took over with the second cartoon and up till December 1955 this were to be unchanged. Then the Hanna-Barbera duo took over and both directed and produced the Tom & Jerry cartoons from that point on.

The years 1959 and 1960 had no releases of Tom & Jerry cartoons but in September 1961 Gene Deitch stepped into the arena as director and with William L. Snyder in the producer's chair. Together they released the first Tom & Jerry cartoon not under Hanna-Barbera's guidance and they clearly set appart their cartoons from the previous with their own style of drawing and humor. 13 cartoons gets released by Deitch and Snyder.

Chuck Jones handled the years 63 to 67 as producer and from this came 34 cartoons. Together with himself, Ben Washam, Abe Levitow, Jim Pabian and surprisingly on two occations the Hanna-Barbera duo in the director's chair, he managed to create a 3rd era with unique Tom & Jerry styling.

At this point the Tom & Jerry cartoon era stopped. There were more cartoons later on featuring our two friends, however those shows did not live and breathe with the original spirit of the first cartoons. They were to restricted by network directions on proper Sunday morning attitudes (in order to satisfy ABC-TV Broadcast Standards and Practices) and the shows were stripped of all what makes Tom & Jerry great.

The best statement so far: "More than 137 GB might finally provide the space for an installation of Microsoft's future WindowsXP-successor or upcoming hyper-realistic 3D-games for GeForce747 chips, but the initial target of those hard drives is of course digital video. You will soon be able to record ten years of Jay Leno's Tonight Show and all of his lame jokes (including the one about the 'country Scandinavia', where he proves his excellent knowledge of geography)."
